I was wondering what an Oliver OC-46 is worth. It is a 1959 and is in good shape and the guy says it only has 800 hours on it. Everything is original but the paint job. It comes with loader, pallet forks, bucket, boom lift, and ripper. He is asking $7200 for it. Is this a good deal or not?

I would be very skeptical of the 800 hours for a 44 year old crawler-loader. If it is excellent shape it may be worth it. I feel that $7500 is a top price to pay. I sold an 1963 OC4 dozer in real good shape for $5500. It had a new paint job with an overhauled engine.

That sellers story has more holes than swiss cheese.Think about it.Do you really think someone would leave a slightly used machine with final drive problems sit and rust until 96.I doubt it.Why would the engine need rebuilt if it was hardly used,it didn't wear out while it sat and rusted?

He said his dad bought it in the late 60s and it had set for several years because the final drive was out of it. His dad bought all the parts but never got it fixed. It set till '96 and then he tore it clear down and rebuilt the whole thing. He had the motor rebuilt and he did everything else. He put all new hydraulic hoses on it and everything else that needed fixed. Everything works on it and it is all original. He did repaint it because it was real rusty. The only problem he said he knows of is the rear hydraulic cylinders are pitted and the leak by so you have to lock up the ripper.
