are the 550 and 660 oliver cranks drilled for oil or are they spray like the 66 cranks..reason im asking is that a while back one individual said that you could offset grind a 550 crank and use 66 rods for a 1/4 in stroke..how can this work with the spray type oiling for the rod bearings? wouldnt the spray miss the holes in the rods?..thanks for any insight into this

I am having trouble trying to figgure out where you are having the problem. When you offset grind the crank, you set the crankshaft up so that the current rod bearing will not run concentric with the way the grinder is set up. This will take the metal off of one side untill you reach the desired diameter. In theory, the outside of the new rod journal will just touch the bottom of the pressent rod diameter. Send me an email from the Hart parr site and I will send you some information. Both engines have the squirt (spray) oiling system.
