Oliver 60 electrical problem -- NEED HELP!!

my oliver 60 has a light switch with a rheostat/resistor on it. the field post of the generator comes to this switch, and the switch adjusts the generator output to charge the battery. in the "off" position the charge rate should be +4 amps. in the first or second "on" positions the charge rate should be 10 amps. the lights come on at the second position.

problem -- my original light switch does not work. problem -- the original light switch is not made anymore.

question -- someone out there is bound to have restored a 60, or maybe a 70, and come across this problem before. what did you use for a light switch?? not just any switch will work with the original equipment. it has to have a resistor/rheostat on it. there has to be a nearly equivalent replacement out there somewhere that someone has used in the past.

since the original switch is not no longer made, i'm open to any solution. pls help. tx

First I have to ask you a question. Are you going for "Show" Quality or make it work?

If "Show" keep searching till you find the part. There are a couple of sources out there for Oliver parts. I like Gordon at 1 800 967 8116

If make work, you can procably install a separate Rheostat to adjust the output Amps and a switch to control the lights.

In restoring my Oliver 60 Row Crop, I was not interested in total originality so I used an on/off pull switch for my lights. The switch and the lights were from the local parts store with no rheostat for the generator. The generator and voltage regulator system were matched. The generator was original and the voltage regulator was from the local parts store. The system works good with simple new wiring from raw material.
