A Super 99 sold at auction last weekend near a town called Ronan in Montana for $4300. It sounded like a really good one. I know a guy, that knows the guy that was the second place bidder on it. After the auction some guy came up to him and asked him if he would be interested in a tractor like the Super 99. The guy "said sure what is it?" It was a MF98. Only about 12 miles from the auction and they went to look at it. It was in great shape and had been rebuilt not to long ago so the engine was like new. He bought for $2500. What luck. Loosing the bid was the best thing he could have done.

From what I have seen the Massey Ferguson 98 and Super 99 bring about the same price in original unrestored condition. All restored the MF98 brings a little more. But you are correct there are a lot more Super 99s. There is also no lack of guys that would like to have one.

Just as a matter or curiosity - why is all this discussion on Super 99 GM and Massey Ferguson 98 taking place here? It is probably very interesting but the heading at the top is "OLIVER Tractors Discussion Board"

Yes, it is very interesting. The MF 98 was built by Oliver. All Massey Ferguson did was add some sheet metal and paint it in there colors. The tractor is an Oliver 990. It is collected by die hard Oliver fans. On the serial tag it says "Massey Ferguson" and under that it says "The Oliver Corporation". If you want parts for one you ask for parts for an Oliver. I think it adds a little color to all that green. So is it OK with you if we talk about it on this board?
