I hate to bring up the subject of the proper tranny fluid again, but need some advice from those of you in cold climates as to what you use in your tranny. I have 90wt in now and when I crank her up she wants to quit when I release the clutch. I, too, have the manuals but they contradict themselves between my Super 55 and 550, so I am hoping to learn something from practical experience. Also, is it okay to flush with diesel instead of kerosene?
The Super 55 is a snow moving machine! I need to keep mine going!!!

There is a plate with 4 bolts on bottom of transmission. About where foot plates are.
Inside is your PTO Clutch, has a notched adjustment nut. Roll PTO Clutch arround till you find Spring loaded pin in one of the notches. Depress pin & turn adjustment nut clockwise about 3 notches ( I use 2 flat blade screwdrivers) and see how lever works may need more??
Once you get it to click in and out next Question is will it hold??? If it will not hold under load you will have to split tractor & replace clutch disks.
It is 540 PTO on the 550
If you get into more than adjustments probably will need a Shop Manual. If I can help just let me know. I'm in the process of rebuilding a 550 Gas right now. So I have the tools & parts & shop manual strung all over the wife's garage.

OOOOPPPSSS
sorry wrong post
But !!! Yes you can use Disel Fuel to Flush with.
Don't for get all 3 Drain plugs.
I use 30-W Gear oil but Not abusing it on hard pulls either. 90-w gear oil it your area will not lubricate when it's that cold.
