I was told you could find the casting date on the bottom of the transmission housing on an Oliver 70 but I just had mine sandblasted and I cant see anything that looks like a date. Just exactly where is this number at. THANKS Dave

The serial# is located on the left side of the engine if you are sitting in the seat on a brass tag, just in front of the air cleaner. If it is not there than I can only give you an approx. year. If it has a "5" gear engine(bigger front timing cover with mag on left side of engine), and steel front grill it is a 38. if it has a cast front grill and a 5 gear engine than it is 36-38. If it has a 3 gear (distributor or mag on right side), and pressed steel grill with flat fenders than it is also a 38. if its a 3 gear with clam shell fenders steel grill and throttle on tool box below the seat than it could be between a 39 and a 44. If throttle is on steering column than it is a 44-48 its a little confusing but this is the only other way I know of to distinguish years.
