Hi, I have an Oliver 880 RowCrop that makes a clunking sound. It is loudest when in 5th and 6th gears. It is like a loud knocking. The bearings on the transmission shafts are good as I just checked them. I haven't pinpointed the location of the sound. Anyone have the same problem on their tractor or know what the cause of the problem may be? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Jeff.

I suggest checking the hub U bolts, they may feel tight, but many times they have worked loose and allow the hub to shift on the axle. If the noise is coming from under your feet, I would suspect a cracked bull gear.

One thing you can try ruling out; Check and see if the lugs , which hold the rear rim to the cast iron wheel , are tight. I once had an Oliver "70" with the same noise you describe. Every time the wheel went around , I herd a clunk. It ended up being the rim , shifting on the wheel.

Front bearing on pinion shaft went on my 880 clunked going down hill no load . Replaced bearing [big job] and rear end never sounded this good in 10 plus years! You can check from outside at front of trany below input shaft.
