G'day all, Don't know much about a 1600, I have a cockshutt 1650, are they about the same? My dad found a 1600 Oliver, narrow front wheels (rowcrop??), says it looks in very good condition (I didn't see it), and the guys neighbour is offering him $500 for it. We thought this is a bit crazy...I know my 1650 is worth much...much more than that. Is this guy just a nut? We don't need another one, but they're nice tractors, and hate to see it go that cheap!! any suggestions?? Thanks guys!!

I would jump quick on that one at that price! I've been grazing for a 1650 WFE Dsl and find the cost about $3-6K depending on condition. Real nice one on ebay right now with loader - sitting in MN.

Its almost the same tractor, if I where you I'd have the money in his hands yesterday. That is dirt cheap you could make that back with just a part or two. Plus if it needs work you could fix it up and get around $3000 to $6000 for it.
Hope this makes you run down ther for it I know I would twice

Thanks, that's exactly what we thought. It's about an hour drive from us, and dad has to go ther again monday I think he's gonna see what he can do. By the way, what exactly is the difference besides the number on the side. Is it just that 1600 was earlier and 1650 came later? Thanks again. -Darren

The 1600 came out before the 1650, as the 1650 was an updated model of the 1600. I believe the 1600 was only made 3 years before it turned to the 1650. So the 1600 is a lot harder to find. The 1650 had more power, and there were some added features such as the tilt and telescoping steering wheel, and late 1600's got the optional hydraul-shift 3 speed sub transmission. Later 1600's had a little more power than early 1600's because Oliver increased the bore of the engine. There isn't a whole lot of differences between the two. Jeff.

Most of the 1600's had the early hydraulic unit with the filter on the side instead of on the front. I think they made two series of them and not sure on the differences between the two . the gas engines were very similar in all the 16 series while the diesels were quite a bit different.

I have a 1963 1600 Diesel. Has 14,986 Hrs on it now. Overhauled once, new clutch once, everything else original. Very good on fuel, has lots of power for a 60 horse tractor.
