Finished going thru the motor on my '36 Oliver Hart Parr, painted it, the frame, cast radiator shell and everything needed to insatall the engine. I picked up the steel front and rear tiptoes from the sandblaster today. My son came over to help me put the rears on and I had the cast grill setting on the tractor front (painted nicely). while wiggling the left wheel, the grill fell off the tractor and cracked at the bottom. I set it next to the front of the frame. Two or three jiggles later, the front hubs slid off the block and the frame crushed the cast grill into 4 pieces. Man do I feel like the worlds biggest fool. If you got a decent cast front setting around, I'd sure appreciate a call. 630 774 2087
and I promise to put it in the corner of the shop 'til I'm ready to put it on!! Larry

'36 OLIVER HART-PARR; I WOULDN'T TOUCH THAT CAST COMPONENT WITH A 10 FOOT WELDING ROD. BUT THATS BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED ANY CAST IRON. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR CAST IRON RECOVERY EFFORTS.

Larry, Larry, Larry. well you know if you can't fix it I have another. We use a cast TIG rod at work and back weld them with very good results., Just don't weld on the front as it always shows. John

You know if it is only 4 pieces and they are clean breaks you might be able to get it welded together. Probably have to take to a GOOD weld shop as it has to gotten very hot and held there while welding. Good luck.

Thanx Dave, I've heard that there is a relitively new welding rod for cast, know anything about that?
Now that I've had a chance to get my shorts unwadded, my brain is starting to work again!
