due to someone's trying to save a buck, the 1950-T Cockshutt that I have acquired needs an engine, or at least a block. Can anyone help?

The block can be welded back up if you can't find a used one.Have done that.

I would be interested to know what went wrong. What you think contributed to the demise of the engine. How many hours were on the engine when it let go. Anything you care to share may be useful if it not to painful to talk about. Details. Thanks.

This one was purely operator error. someone forgot to check the anti-freeze and when it got to -20F CRACK! There is a cast web between each sleeve and each one is cracked. This is the area where the o-ring on the sleeve is supposed to seal--it's not sealing to well!! The tractor was bought over the net and shipped from Canada to Texas and when it arrived it had water in the oil. The previous owner stated that the morning it left Canada it was -20F and they didn't try to start the tractor and when it left there it had no water in the oil. When I asked him if he had checked the antifreeze, he promptly hung up and I haven't been able to find him since! So much for international trading. I also own a 1655 Cockshutt tractor and think the RED olivers are kind of neat and very rare in Texas!!

Thank you very much for the additional information. The 310 has a sketchy reputation and by defining the engines failure as operator error this will not be chalked up as another strike against the 310. Personally I think red Oliver's are a great novelty anywhere out side of Canada. Sorry to hear your purchase was not good. I really am. We do this for fun and that would take a lot of fun out of it. It had to cost plenty to get it shipped from Canada to Texas. If the seller in Canada is one of the regular tractor jockeys advertising on this site maybe you should let know who he is so others can avoid a disappointment.

The tractor was purchased thru E-Bay. The seller closed his E-Bay account has has seemed to disappear. If it wasn't for bad luck...
Thanks for your concern!

I,m a long way east of western canada but by any chance did this tractor come out of south east saskatchewan? [1500 miles west of me] I may have a number for you if you can provide some more info? Drop a line and see if we can help.

a complete good running engine would be prefered, but a solid, rebuildable block would also be acceptable, as my crank and head is good.
this tractor is being restored for very light work and mostly parade duty, so a perfect or completely rebuilt engine is not necessary.
Thanks!
