Hi. I have a perkins diesel in my 1850 with a stamped steel valve cover that leaks.I bought a new gasket at the agco dealer and was told that there are two angle "clamps" that go on each end of the valve cover to put pressure on the gasket. Does anybody know where I could find these? Also does anybody know of good place to buy a shock asorber for the seat or a good substitute? The dealer wants $49.00 for one of these! Thanks for any info.- Eric.

Call me on the valve cover. I've got a few NOS of the change-over kits the Oliver offered to do away with the stamped steel cover to go to the cast cover. I'd sell you the kit (which includes the 165990A gasket) for $50.00. or if you need another valve cover gasket (164890A), I've got new ones for $30.00. Toll Free 1-866-264-9720 / 330-264-9720. Then once you change to the cast cover, you can use the valve cover gasket off of an early s/n 2-105 (31-2751307) for a lot less $$$

Had an 1850 for 30 years. Came with a stamped steel rocker cover. Leaked like a sieve. Oliver came out with a cast iron cover, had the angle clamps you speak of. Leaked like a sieve. The problem is on the Perkins diesels that the exhaust ports are just to close to the top of the head. I don't know of any gasket that can take this extreme heat and survive. On the later Perkins they finally figured out the problem and the top of the head was extended and actually had a "rim" to help contain the oil as it ran back down into the engine. Having the engine on a slant as in the Olivers really compounded the problem. Unless someone out there has found a solution that works, you'll more than likely just have to learn to live with it.
