I am trying to get the dash light on my 66 working. Tried to get the bulb out and it seperated from the base. It's stuck in there pretty good. My question is what is the purpose of that little thumb screw on the side of the light housing? I assume that the bulb is a bayonet base bulb? I'll have to try some more to get that base out tomorrow night.

The thumb screw is to turn the light off and on. The bulb is a common bulb. Make sure that you can turn the switch off and on with the thumb screw. If not you can get new complete dash lights.

Mark, it looks like the thumb screw can move or slide up and down in the groove of the housing. Is that how the switch works for the light? It's hard to tell on mine.

Dan, Yes as you turn the switch one way, it moves the socket inside away from the bulb. When you move it back it brings the socket back to the bulb and makes contact.
