I have an HG with the IXB3 engine and Marvel Schebler carburetor. I need to know the float setting measurement/s--either the fuel level or float to body measurement if you can help. I think the carb # is 406 but probably the settings are all about the same for this engine.

Better to use a different thickness washer under the float valve if possible , rather than bending the float parts. Non damaging to float, and you can milke up for the right thickness easy.

Nothing to add to Dave's comment, other than to give you what I use as a little "cheat". I've cut off a piece of 1/4 key stock and use it as a feeler guage/paralell. Easier to use (and repeat with) than a scale, and "good enough for who it's for" accuracy wise.

Quoting from the Manual:

Remove upper body to bowl screws and separate assemblies. Turn body assemble upside down and with the float lever resting on the inlet needle, check distance from face of body gasket to nearest edge of float. If necessary to adjust floats to give the proper measurement of 1/4", bend float arms so as to keep both floats parallel with the gasket.
