88 pto shaft removal

Well, spent part of the afternoon trying to remove the PTO shaft. The end twisted off in the clutch. It pulls out about 3 feet then stops. What do I have to do to remove it? Thanks for the help

You may have to pull the engine. First take apart the coupling to see where your are at. I think you have a burr on the broken end of the shaft that is stopping you at the front of the input shaft of the transmission

It has been a few years since I last did this, but I think the shaft may have "flared over" at the broken end and now it will not go through the hydraulic pump. Plan like you are going to put a clutch in, (engine in frame or remove it) either way works. Get the clutch shaft and bell housing out. If the shaft is back that far push the shaft ahead again and look at the broken end. Then decide what the action will be. A grinder may take the roughness off and let you remove the shaft. Questions?
