Has anyone had to rebuild/replace the alternator on their 1365 Oli? My Oliver was built in 1966 by Fiat and the alternator just bit the dust. Looks like I have to remove quite abit of linkage and hydraulic lines just to get it off. Any tech advise before I start?

Steve the Oliver 1365 was built from 1971 - 1975 with starting S/N 706 251 and ending with 766 614. You will need to get the information from the data plate on your alternator so you determine which you have. They used a Marelli and a Bosch alternator. I have access to Fiat - Oliver parts.

I meant to say starter, not alternator. Sorry

If the starter really doesn't work, take it to any automotive electric shop; check the phone book. They will test it for you. Most often, "starter problems" are really wiring problems.

99% of the time the brushes can be replaced at little charge. Even if it needs to be rebuilt, it's likely cheaper than buying a new one.

Good luck with starter problems, we sent ours all over the southeastern US and could not get it fixed. We finally bought a new one from Agco cost 520. Best thing we could have done, tractor had been sluggish with new batteries and cables and the preheater quit. Changed the starter and fixed all the above. I hope u can get it rebuilt if you do send me the name of the repair shop since I have the old one laying on the shelf.
