Looking at one, fellow thinks it has a piston with a crack or other problems. Engine will run but hammers, and misses out. It is a gas 3 cyl. Herc. Has a loader and the under carrage is in good shape. Fellow needs money and is asking $3800. What do the rest of you think?
Serial number 6WR-546-ST. Thanks.

I just bought a B series OC-4 w/hydraulic tilt and manual angle blade, Herc diesel in good shape, brand new tracks (still have the paint on them) for $3,800. I passed on an OC-6 that ran good, but had an oil leak that indicated a cracked head, for $2,000. You're looking at a $2,000 or less tractor, with the described problems. IMHO.

I just found one for my dad that is not running and he got it for 800. The engine is loose just has been sitting for a couple of years. Mr. Cleatrac himself Landis Zimmerman has a OC-46 and wants 4500 for it and has been through his shop. I saw and OC-46 dozer that went for 5500 in the spring at Ted Everrets near Indianapolis IN and was in good running condition but it needed painted. I would agree that I would not give him 3800 and really nothing over 2000 for it although they will bring the money in the right area.

I agree that $3800 with true condition of engine unknown is NOT a good buy. You could spend a lot of bucks repairing or rebuilding the engine.Bought a similar unit with loader a year ago, good condition and needed only fluid changes and some basic maintenance, paid only $3500 for it. Price may depend on what part of country you are in. My location in Oregon. Take your time and don't rush into the deal without some idea how much it will take to put the OC46 into working condition. I sold a 1964 OC4 with 4 way blade for $5000 last year. This crawler was in perfect shape with fresh overhauled engine, new hydraulic pump and hoses, new paint and seat. I paid $2000 for it but after restoration I didn't make much money.
The crawler that you are looking is a 1961 model. It sounds that the motor is shot and this will be costly. Just my 2 cents I would not pay $3800 for it.
