I have a 1650 diesel, 1968 model. engine was overhauled and never run hard enough to break in less than 20 hours (6 years)ago. I want to change oil in it for the winter and would like to use Mobil 1. Can I use 5-30 or 10-30 that Sam's Club carries OR do I need to buy a special type of Mobil 1 for the diesel engine? I will be using it to push snow from time to time this winter and would like to make it as easy staring as possible. Electric is not an option other than a generator where it is stored.

All Mobil 1 oils are rated for diesel use. The correct weight to use is whatever the operator's manual says. Where you buy it doesn't matter. SAM's and Wally-Mart usually have it in the 5 qt. jugs which saves a couple of bucks and a lot of fooling around.

http://www.mobil1.com has lots of useful information.

Have already replaced both batteries and battery cables. cables are 2/0 welding cable with solder ends. starts good in summer. used to be agood starter in the winter also, no ether and no heat. However before overhaul and afterwards my uncle started using ether to start it. He would spray it on precleaner forcing it to go thru the air cleaner element etc. I replaced both batteries and all cables, now appears to be back to easy starting
Thanks
Ron
