Have a Model 88 (Gas) circa 1950's. Need electrical wiring diagrams that provide enough detail on the push starter, ignition/light switch, ammeter, coil and generator. The page I have from the Operator's Manual is not detailed enough. Would a appreciate a faxed copy (just let m eknow if someone has one). Got a big project this weekend since mice have eaten the wires!!!

#2 - I bought a new push starter but it does not have any markings to denote BATT, etc. How can I tell how to hook it up without shorting it out?

Thanks for the help...

Thanks Super 55, on the diagram can you explain where the following wires go:

1. Red - to "B" terminal?
2. Green - to "L" terminal?

Was the original 88 a 6-volt system? The one I have is a 12-volt. Also, any pointers on determining how to wire the push starter switch to BAT and Starter since the posts are not marked?

I may be the last person to answer electrical problems, but from the looks of it the red wire goes to the battery terminal on the voltage regulator and the green is going to the "L" terminal on the regulator.

Why would it make any difference on the location of the wires on the push switch. Imagine it's a knife switch.. all you are doing is completing the circuit. Pushing on the switch just makes contact.

Factory wiring diagrams show wire colors and proper routing. They are not intended to show the specific connection at each unit. You might be able to find a book on basic automobile or tractor wiring. Tractors use automotive wiring techniques and electrical components.

As far as the mice... "One Bite" bar bait works miracles! Any feed store should have it.
