Thanks to all the help and advice I've read on this Board, last week I bought my first Oliver.
It's an 1850 Gas thats in very good condtion.
I spend all weekend polishing her up, I love it.
My question is, what are the buttons on the front of the Hydraulic Lift handles?

First let me say congrats on the 1850 purchase. I was amazed at how much a little cleaning and polish helped the appearance of mine.

As Ollie said those buttons control the stop collars on Hydra-Lectric cylinders. Basically they allow you to change the position of the stop collar from the tractor seat. I don't have a Hydra-Lectric cylinder, so I can't comment on how well they work.

If your interested, the Floyd County Museum still had original print Service manuals last year. They will sell you copy of the Owners manual as well. (I recommend getting a Owners manual, at least. It sure has helped me.)

I hope you enjoy your 1850 as much as I do mine.
Regards,
Myron KY

For what it is worth the Hydra-Lectric worked good but the stop collar could slip sometimes.

The only problem with it was it took a proprietary cylinder. Others don't plug in.

However I know one guy put a linkage and microswitches on his White planter so he can use the Hydra-Lectric system on his 1750.

Thanks for the INFO. I have a manual on order, it just hasn't come in yet. It's funny, even my DEERE friends have nothing but nice things to say about Oliver tractors. My 1850 dosen't seem to mind sharing the barn with my AC D15. Like I said, the posters on this board were very helpful in my decision to buy the 1850. Thanks again.

They control the "Hydra-Lectric" system. The manual will explain how they are used.
