Wb. A man has what he calls a white 870 or maybe its a 8700 for sale. Its a 1985, 15 ft. flex grain header, 4 row corn header, 1100 hrs. He is asking 8000$ for the 3 pieces. What do you think even if they aren't all that great. And what kind of motor did they have. Thanks again.

My guess is it's an 8700. I will say up front that I am not a fan of White combines. Even with those few of hours that sounds a little pricey. The used combine market is flooded and there are other brands with better parts availability out there. Also much easier to work on. My saying about combines is: "They all do the same job, they all can do a good job, and they all will break down. So buy the one that is easiest to work on." Gleaner and IH Axial Flow are the easiest in my opinion. WB.

I had a 8700 for a bit Not a bad combine at all. Final drives are a bit week but if you watch them and replace the berrings ahaed of time your ok. Very compairable to a 6600 or 6620 deere design, reliablity and capasity wise. Agco was real good about parts for it. I Would not pay over 4K for a good one with both heads. I paid $1,600 for mine with a 20' kwik cut. Handled that 20' very well and was very relaible. previous to it I ran conventional gleaner. Gleaner is easy to fix, but would not recomend one for relaibility issues. There built real light. Also do not work as well as the white did in tuff conditions. Concave design issue In my opinion. 1460 or 1440 IH's Get very high marks. I grew up on IH rotorys and they are very good. I've Found Massy rotorys to be hands down the best there is in combines far fewer parts and built heavy.

From any agco dealer who sells or sold white. If you don't have one of those close a massy or gleaner dealer might be able to order parts for you especialy the massy dealer as massy bought white combine line in 1985. I'm fortunate as the local white dealer stocks just about every thing and agco is real good about still having the new parts available. Good luck.

Do you have a 8700? Does it have hydrostatic drive and air conditioning? What do you think of these machines?

If you are talking about a White 8700 combine, they were painted red. Good points...??? Bad points, Engine next to cab, multiple belts running off a single shaft, weak final drives, and generally difficult to repair and service. Just my experience and opinion, WB.
