What engine would be a direct repower option for a 1950T FWA? I know the Cummins is the ideal way to go, but Im more interested in the drop in and go possibility or what is most cost effective (cheap). In the alternative, is it feasible to pull the FWA axle from this tractor to put into an 1850?

some of the two wheel drive tractors had a four wheel drive pinion shaft in them. the easiest way to tell is if a 2wd tractor does not ave a speedometer it probably has a 4x4 pinion shaft in it. without the transfer case they did not have a way to drive the speedometer. I would reccomend putting a 354 in your 1950T. the 354 is a excellent engine and a healthy non turbo 354 will run right with a turbo 310. because of the fuel tank shape on the 1950T there is also room for a turbo on the 354. the easiest way is to find a 1850 that has other problems and use all the parts off of it. the biggest thing you have to watch out for is the hydra-power/over- under imput shaft length. most of the 1850 tractors had a .400 shorter imput shaft than the waukesha engines. if you have a 3spd in your 1950T and want to put it on the 1850 engine you will need to shorten the imput shaft if the 1850 had a 2spd.

I am not aware of any drop and go replacement engine for the 1950-T unless you put another 310 Waukesha in it or split the frame and bolt up a frame and engine from another Oliver, like an 1850 with the 354 Perkins engine. In order to easily switch to a perkins you would change the entire front tub to a diesel 1850 tub and change the front axle over. You will have to use the origional 354 Perkins that came in the Olivers not a newer one, it will not fit in the frame right.

As for changing the FWA, if it is a MFWA with a drive shaft you cannot easily change it to a two wheel drive tractor. The MFWA Olivers had an extra shaft in the transmission to allow for the transfer case to be hooked up and the two wheel drive tractors do not have this. It would be very difficult to put this shaft into a two wheel drive tractor to make the MFWA work.

Your best option is to put the front tub of the 1850 on to the rear end of the 1950-T and put the MFWA axle back under the tub.

Or you could always put the 5.9L Cummins engine in the 1950-T and keep the 1850 running and still have two tractors.
