I pull farmstock classes with the "other green"and I have a friend who has a bunch of Olivers who let me pull his 88 in the 6000 lb 4mph.I pulled it in first gear but after it was done I was confident it would have handled it in second.Never ridden one before and boy was it smooth compared to the JD G.I won't sell my Deere but an 88 would make a nice addition to my shop.Just thought I would share that with you Oliver guys,Jack(TN).

I had my JD A for about 3 years, then bought my first oliver, a definite difference. The prices are more reasonable in my area (central wis.)For pretty much anything but two-cylinders and those little gray super 55 wannabes. Glad your first pull with the oliver a pleasant one.

Welcome Aboard! Happy to hear that your first ride was so good! Maybe someday one of you "other green" guys will let me take a spin on an 830 diesel!

Glad you got to drive an 88. What part of W. TN are you located? I live in Jackson and show a 550 and an Oliver 75 lawn tractor. The West TN antique tractor show is Oct. 10th & 11th at Atwood TN.

I live about fifty miles north of you in Dresden.I work at The University of Tennessee at Martin.I usually try to go to Atwood because its not far and is a good show. There is a 770 Oliver that I pull against some that is hard to beat.Maybe I can speak to you if I meet you at Atwood,I'll be the big guy with the John Deere cap on w/sunglasses(if it is clear).Jack

I'm the friend with the Oliver. I live up here in Dresden also and remember your 550 from the show earlier in the year. That is one nice tractor you have ! I have been trying to tell these "other green" guys about the wonders and joys of the great Olivers and I think they are finally coming around. LOL!! I was up at Atwood with the Unstyled B a 40 and a 50 along with my Oliver 77. Gonna try to be there again this time but we have hay to cut so it will depend on that.

I have to admit though that the JD's are really good ones also as we have several of them and the ones we hay with are newer Jd's. Great company but if Oliver had stayed in it... well..... ..
