Greetings All, I've seen a couple of Cockshutt 570's for sale in the classified section and they look like some good tractors, although I know nothing of them. Can anyone help with information on the 570 in terms of horsepower, reliability, quirks--you know, the normal stuff one asks. An aside--Ollie, if you read this, could you tell me where you are located geographically? I remember awhile back you mentioned Wausau, WI in one of your responses. Thanks to all who respond.

A very reliable tractor if cared for. Power steering units leak after a lot of use. 3-point hitches were weak and under built. Tranny is very tough as well as the engines. Brakes need to be kept in adjustment as well as the LPTO. A lot of power for the size and money on todays market.
You can get most parts for the herc, however the pistons are very hard to find. I'm repowering a 570 with a b series cummins. You can put other larger engines in the tractor and not have to worry about the tranny. I farm with and show square noses in the central Michigan area.

The 570 Cockshutt was a 5 plow tractor that was tested at Nebraska to have 52.25 max drawbar hp and 60.84 belt hp. They came with 298 cu 6 cyl. Hercules engines in gas or diesel. The 570 Super had a 339 cu Hercules diesel and was rated at 60 drawbar hp and 64 belt hp.
