A friend of mine at work and I was discussing tractors in the area. He told me to watch out when it comes to the Oliver when you need the loader and want to run a snowblower. He said the hydraulics are configured so that the loader has to be picked up and then the hydraulic pump taken off the PTO before you can hook up your blower and go to work. If this is correct is there an alternative method to configure the hydraulics so that you don't have the pump mounted on the PTO?
Thanks for any feedback

Sam M gave you some great info on hydraulics.

Let me add something about blowers. They aren't worth spit in a strong wind.

I use an 8' 3pt box blade on my 1650. This lets me push snow exactly where I want it. If I run out of room, I pick it up with the loader and pile it higher. Most of us up here either do that or replace the loader bucket with a dozer blade. I can't think of anybody who uses a blower but then again this is a very windy place.

If I understand your question ,I think you have three options :

(1) you could run the loader off the hydraulic remotes and run the blower off the pto . If your loader has its own joy stick or value you could plug up to one set of remotes for the loader valve but you will have to tie the remote handle down for fluid to be continually pumping to the valve . If your loader does not have its own valve you can plug into the remotes and control the loader with the remote handles .

(2) Another option is to do a power beyond set up for the loader ( your loader will have to have a joy stick or its own control valve) and run the loader off the power beyond hydraulics and the blower off the pto . BA Star who posts on this web site sent me power beyond instructions for a 1555 a few years ago .

(3) If the loader is powered by a pto pump , you could stub a pto shaft out the back of the pto pump and then hook the blower up to the pto stub . I saw someone do this with a pto pump and run loader off pto pump and run a bush hog off the stub coming out the back of the PTo pump so it should work on pto operated blower . Problem with 3 is when you cut the pto off both loader and blower cut off .
