I was wondering, what was the plow rating for a regular 66 RC? Can itpull a 16" 2 bottom trailer in most soils?

I plowed with my 66 and a two bottom 16" trailer plow hydraulic, last fall. cast wheels, 13.6x38 60%, one weight per side, no calcium. Part of the field I could pull it in 2cd with front end up. another part that only had about 1 1/2" topsoil could only pull in 1st 2-3"deep. Added 1 wheel weight per side and then could go a little deeper still not enough. Front end was too high and out of control, rear tires were starting to shred(35 years old). Tractor was rebuild in 67 with big sleeves and clutch, new tires at that time.

If you have good ground that has been plowed before, your 66 is running very strong with good rubber and you don't care if you break something, then go for it. If not real strong, small rubber(factory size) or not wanting to break something then drop down to 2-12's, relax and enjoy the ride.

We pulled a 2 bottom 14 inch plow with a Super 66 gas in northern Illinois black dirt with sod, no problem.

I'm with Frank. No way a Oliver 66 pulls a 2-16 in central Kansas. 66 would pull a 1-16 and a 2-12.

Our 66 pulled the Plowmaster 100 with two 12 inch bottoms. The ground was a hard clay and the 66 did a good job. It would be very difficult for the 66 to pull two 16's in our clay ground. We had a neighbor who pulled a Plowmaster with two 12's with his JD B. My cousin had an Oliver 60 and pulled one 16 inch bottom.

Our 1951 66 standard will pull our 2-16 Oliver trailer plow in 2nd or sometimes 3rd gear with no trouble at all in good ground. I have had to drop it into 1st in some hard clay, but usually not.
