Found a 77 in Washington state near us with a 6 cyl diesel, running rough when cold otherwise works. Are injectors and fuel distributors available and easy to get? I notice a rebuild kit for the engine is available and that is encouraging. Wondering about opinions about the 77 and is it a good tractor?

I had an oliver OC3 and loved that little crawler so getting another Oliver could be a good decision.

The 77 is a very good tractor but whether it is good for you depends on what you plan to do with it. For example if you want to pull a 5 bottom plow you will be disappointed with it. It will also depend on how much you pay for it. It's pretty hard to buy one cheap enough if they have engine problems. Even harder when you don't know the extent of engine problems. If you are the buyer you should assume the engine will need to be rebuilt and hope to get lucky. You could easily exceed $1000 on an engine rebuild. If you value you time it will be about twice that. Not to mention other problems that it may have you don't even know yet. On a tractor that is 50 years old you should expect other problems. If the engine has problems I would say you better get it cheap and the tires and sheet metal should be excellent. Like Dad says "You can't pay to much for a good one or to little for a bad one". What did you want to know about options?

you cant beat a 77 for farm use here in Indiana you can get injectors cleaned for a 100 bucks and your two new fuel filters for thirty dollars or less ps take care of your diesel there getting hard to find lot of people is turning them into gas pullers
