I was curious as to what the value of a new style 770 in average condition with PS and a power booster would be. What does the power booster do to these in terms of value? I thought I heard they caused some problems.

I own a 66 770 gas. I have the power traction hitch and wide front. Lets just say they'll have to bury me with that darn thing. Owned it for 10 years and it never let me down. Just my 2 cents..

a 770 is an excellent choice for everyday chore tractor, or for the "big" tractor on a small, or hobby farm. i have several. they come in 3 vintages, with the later type, as you describe, as the most sought after type. the earliest ones , in michigan, bring 2200--2900 at auction, slightly more at private sales/ads. the middle version brings somewhat the same, but are more apt to have 3pt, hydra hitch, and the 2 speed. the late ones have the checkerboard grill. most have power steering, 12v alternator, and 1/3 have the 2 speed. most at auction here command 3300--3850. they are very handy to use. i have 2 770's and a late 880 with the 2 speed. all are still working very well at 45 years of age. the 2 speed is very nice to slow for a corner while cutting hay with a 9 ft haybine. for the money, you can't go wrong. just my humble opinion. ron
