I am curious how many hours you fellows have gotten from a rebuild of the 283 Wakesha Diesil?
I have checked back in our records and it seems that we got just over 5000 hours from the last rebuild. It was very complete with the crank being turned and the injector system being reworked. I just can't seem to make up my mind on rebuilding. If I understand some of the older posting the 1655 had a superior injector/energy cell. Can the 1655 head go onto my 1650 block?

Do you have a direct injection 283 or one with energy cells. There are more differences than the head. If both of your manifolds bolt on with 12 bolts you have the direct injection version. The fuel injection system is totally different for each one too.

I have the energy cells on my tractor. I have not had the head off so I can not tell you yet how many bolts there are.
