I recently had the pump and the injectors rebuilt on my 77 diesel. I put it back together according to the IT book and it does not run. I have bled the system and that didnt help either. Does anyone have any suggestions of where I can start?
Thanks

When you bled the system did you loosen the lines at the nozzle and crank the engine over several times to see if fuel comes out. The high pressure lines need to be primed. If the pump is working fuel will come out if not crank the engine a short time to force the air out.Hope this helps. Delbert

You are probably one turn off. That pump drive runs at crank speed the quill shaft runs cam speed. How did you determine if you were on number one cylinder compression stroke and did you take the timing window cover off when you lined up the pump timing marks to see if the hydraulic head in the pump was on number one.. I assume this is not a Super 77 with a Roosa pump But a PSB Bosch.

I had the valve cover off to determine the compression stroke for #1. I had the timing cover off the pump and lined the notched gear up with the marker. I also had the timing plug out when alining the cam gear. The only other idea I have is that the pump may not be timed to itself as the gear mark and the cam mark were not exactly aligned, but we didnt have the pump taken apart and it ran fine before like that.

Also, the flywheel was hard to read. The IT manual says line up the FP mark in the hole. I thought I did that, but beings it was hard to read and dirty I may have been off.

Any thoughts of what I need to do or am doing wrong?
Thanks in advance.

After the pump is installed the marked gear in the pump is one tooth to the right of the mark. You could take an energy cell out and see if the injector blows fuel out when it compreses.
