I inherited an Oliver 1250. It has 1400 actual hours on it. It appears to be in excellent condition and is complete with original tool box and bullet tail lights. I know its built by Fiat. From what I have read on the Forum they are about one of the least dependable tractors by Oliver. Can anyone comment on what/why they were not dependable. This is a 1250 gas not diesel. It rides an handles excellent and the hydraulics work perfect. Any comments appreciated.

Sherry recently suggested in HPOCA magazine that a reader go to a Fiat dealer and ask for parts for a specific model Fiat tractor. Can't find the right issue now but maybe someone else can fill you in on the correct model number.

They aren't BAD just miserable to get parts for. A White service guy who had been with Oliver at the time said that the gas engine was one used by Italian military. Try Maibach Tractor in Creston Ohio, he had some he was parting out. And nowdays with the internet you could even get stuff from Italy if you had to.

I don't think the tractor is that bad however in my opinion it can't hold a candle to the 550. There are several Fiats out there such as some of the ACs. It is my understanding that Oliver specified a type of motor that is rare especially with the diesel and parts are a pain to acquire.

Good luck. I blew a head gasket last year and have yet to find a replacement. It's a nice little tractor, just a bear to get parts for.
