Just wondering on the strength of the 3pl of a 1950 , and any other features it might have.

Rob,

If equipped with the CAT II hitch it's rated at 4000 lbs. If CAT III it's rated at 6000 lbs. (The CAT III hitch is easily recognizable as it has an external cylinder for each lift arm.)

I guess the biggest feature would be the 4-53 Detroit engine, which was standard on this model. Of course the, 2 speed, Hydra-Power and 3 speed, Hydraul-Shift were available along with Oliver's other standard features and options.

Thanks Myron , sounds my ideal tractor!.
The FWA model , does that have much of an effect on turning circle ?.

I can't speak from experience but I have heard that the FWD has a larger turning radius than the row crop 2WD axle.

If I remmeber correctly both the FWA model and the regular row crop models were tested at Nebraska. So this data (turning radius) would be on the test report. Are you talking 1950 or 1950T not that it makes any difference.

Good memory Mr. Schwiebert! The 1950 was tested in 1964. 2WD is test number 871. FWA is test number 872.

I also see the Oliver was thinking of the future. The 1850 and 1855 gas versions were tested in 1964. Test number 875.

Myron: Those were some of the better days of working for a dealer. In 1966 some of the dealers were invited out to Charles City to preview the new products. They also had some field demonstations, They had a 1950 with front wheel asist and it would keep up with the John Deere 5010 or 20 which ever it was, working down plowed ground. Somebody on the shuttle wagon said take the 1950 out of four wheel drive. They did The 1950 could not move the field cultivator. If you get a chance send me an e-mail. I have a comment for one of your questions.
