I took some pics at the Lynden show and this Super 99 has a muffler, I am guessing this might be you. I was going to take more pics of the heavier classes but I was saving them for the civil war re-enactment, wish I had pics of the Massery 98s.

Yeah, that's me. Nice shot. Small world. That was the first Super 99 I bought. Never have had to do much to it. It's been a good puller. Looks like my front end is just about to leave the ground. Is it still pretty loud with the muffler? I wear ear plugs during the pull so I can't really tell.

You can see two of the Massey 98s in the background. The un-restored 98 has a green fuel tank. All you can see is the back side of the fenders on the restored 98. Two bad you did'nt get a picture of the restored 98 pulling.

One of these days I would like to know how you post the photo.

Scott, I just got my Grandpa's 995 running after 23 years of sitting.(When he retired from farming he parked it.) I had to put 3 new HV7 injectors in it since the old ones were froze up. Question: I plan on bringing the 995 to the local pull in a month. It looks like your 99 is pulling up in the front, what have you done or would recommend to get the proper weight distribution? Your input could save me a lot of embarassement. Thanks.

You are lucky to have 995. That is a top notch collectors item. Want to trade for a Super 99? Probably not.

The first thing I do is get rid of the HV injectors. I would have put N series injectors in myself. Start with 90s.

I have heard the 995 does not do well pulling. The torque convert is designed to slip under a load in order to keep the RPMs constant. I have heard that in pull the 995 pulls down to a stop with the engine still screaming. It's like having a clutch that slips.

I would need to know some details before I could provide any help. In order to answer your question I would need to know what weight class you intend to pull it at. I have pulled from 8,000 to 11,000 and each class is quite different. Tires make a big difference too. Does your pull have a speed limit? Stuff like that.

Where are you located? If you want to give me your email address I could give some tips that could save you a lot of trial and error. Time.

We are having a "fun" pull for all wheatland style tractors, 660 D IH, 900 case, etc.. The local IH boys think the 660 D will outpull any Oliver. I believe the 990/995 were the biggest tractor at the time??? (just think of all the HUGE 4 wheel drive they have now...must have been impressive back then) The pull is all for fun so I dont care how I do, but I would like to turn a few eyes. I'll just wing it and enjoy the time of seeing my Gnandpa smile. My Dad's 1950 GM (with a straight pipe) turns eyes every year, but the 995 is something way different. This has been a very good discussion forum. Good luck pulling!

PS. I'm not sure how to send my email address without making it "WWW". Pease email me if you do.

I think it sounds better with the muffler. It still sounds hefty without folding your ears back!

I'll get those Massey's next year! : )

Posting images is simple. All you need is a host site. So I use one supplied by "Bobduck" on the Tractor Tales page. His link is below. When you have a digital image you simply download it onto his page and it will give you an image URL that you copy and paste into the "Optional Image URL" at the bottom of each posting on YTMag. If you scroll down tothe bottom of "Post A Followup" you will see it at the bottom.

The image must be a jpg. image and should be 72 dpi resolution, and I make it 600X300 pixels. That way it fits on the page without having to scroll around. Also, I have the jpg image quality at 8.

If you need any help just email.

Nice tractor!

Hey nice rig. Where in Canada are you? I'm in Maple Ridge, BC.

I'm rebuilding my Super 55 final drive right now. It's all put back, I'm just painting all the pedals, brake cover, tin, tool box....etc.

B.C. here too, dont forget about me in Quesnel. Have the Super 55 split and repairing the PTO clutch. Next is a leak out of the 3pt shaft lip seals and bushings.

Then paint! Cant wait for that.

I was wondering if you were the fellow from Quesnel. I talked to you ages ago on the HPOCA web page, but I don't go to that sight much. I prefer the format of this site and the Old Oliver Gang.

Have you seen many other Super 55s in BC. I only saw one other one in Mission. It was a later model. Mines a 1955.

When I replaced all the bearings and seals in the final drive I did the seals in the PTO out put. I don't know if yours is like mine, but the old seal had groved the surface of the shaft, so I installed a speedy sleeve. I put them on the axles, and the bull pinions too. First I filled the groves with JB Weld and polished them smooth. Then slide on the speedy sleeves. Great product.

Good luck on your restoration.
