550 Oil Pan

I was looking into taking the oil pan off our 550 there was a tin shield in the front blocking the bolts that can be easaly bent out of the way but the back has another shield that I only saw 6 bolts holding on but it would not come off do you have to pull the motor to remove the pan or am I missing something thanks Thomas

I rebuilt a 550 without engine removal-dropped the pan -don't remember all the steps but had pan off with engine in tractor.
