Looked at an older OC-6 this weekend (tin looked like fleetline tin, tractor seemed identical to a 77, but with tracks). I thought it should be bigger- looked like an OC-4 with a 6 cylinder Oliver (Waukesha) engine rather than the 4 cyl Herc. Are the frame sizes the same on both? The 6 was actually smaller than a late model OC-4 I looked at later in the day. The 6 is kind of a cute little tractor- looked just like "Bugdozer" from the Richard Scary books, for those of you who read them to your kids 20 years ago.

The sheet metal on the OC6 was the same throughout the production run. The only modification was the seat. The OC6 was built in the 53-60 period and was truely an Oliver since the others were modified Cletracs. The 6 used the 77 engine but the transmission was similiar to the 88. The tractor started with a pan seat but was upgraded to a box type seat in 56 or 57. The 6 has live pto(the OC 4 did not) and six speeds. The 6 weighed 7420 lbs and most were painted highway yellow. The OC 4 begin production in 1956 with a 4 cyl Hercules engine. In 1958 the engine was changed to a 3 cyl Hercules. The earlier 4s had the fleetline design but were changed two or three times. When production ended in 1964 the 4 had a modern design. The 3 cyl 4s had a 130 cu engine and weighed in the 4200-5000 lb catagory. The later models were heavier than the earlier models because of the design. The hp comparsion is the OC6 approx. 31 and the OC4 approx 31.
