Greetings:
I like my 880 so much (the first Oliver on our farm) that I'm now looking at a couple of 550's to put our old Ford implements on. The first is a '74 model with just under 1300 hrs.--great shape, but needs new rears, a brake job, and starter failed to engage one time during trial run--guy wants $6300. Second is a Super 55, good shape (tach says 1612 hrs.--don't know if actual), new rubber, one weld on 3 pt. arm--$4500. Also, what is the HP rating of the Super55/550? Thanks to all who respond.

You guys have almost scared me out of trying to sell my 550 gas I bought it 2 years ago and paid $3850.00 then I had new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing ($350.00)then last year I had a new hydro pump installed ($1180.00) and I was thinking of selling it with posthole digger and box blade for $4500.00

My S55 was 4K. Included loader, 12v conversion, 3PT, PTO and free delivery.Rear rubber is very good. Meter said 590, but probably not correct. All tin is there and all original (poor) paint.I felt I over paid by $500. but I had no way to haul a tractor, so that was worth $2-300 to me. Could have had a 9N from same guy for 800 less, but have never regretted my decision!HTH.

Price is outlandish. Newly refurbished you may have that in it if you reconditioned beginning to end every nut and bolt but you would never recover that cost. 550s are great utility rigs,. Top price I have seen is $4500 for fully reconditioned rig. I got mine for 3k, it is a DSL model. Here is a link to an article I compiled some time ago. Use it for reference. Regards, ShepFL

I sold an excellent S 55 diesel with an Oliver 1610 loader for $4200.00, BUT it had a new short block, injector pump, hydraulic pump etc. etc. etc!! Tires were very good & so was the tractor. The new owner uses it every day & the last time I talked to him he was still quite happy.

The guy must think he is selling new tractors! The prices are completely out of range. Even though the 550 is a late model you are looking at several dollars for tires and starter rebuild. Even at best the 550 around $3800-4000. The S55 $1600-2800. The S55 hp approx.34 and the 550 41.

Frank, I did offer the gentleman with the 550 considerably less while pointing out the $$ I'd have to stick into it, but he hasn't responded. I, too, think he's high on that one.

I agree with Frank. Those are really on the high end. That 550 would have to be in total reconditioned, parade ready, shape for that price.
