I have bought a V-Rake this year which is a great help in pulling together the light swaths. The problem is when I pull two heavier swaths together the row crop axel on the 1850 occassionally hangs up on the hay and I push me a small hay stack before I know it. Can you convert an 1850 over to a higher clearance front end?

I know Oliver offered a High Crop option, where both front and rear were high clearance. I suppose if one of those front ends could be found it could be used. It would make it awful tall in the front though. My 1850 has 1100 X 16's on the front. It does set taller than normal.

You might try making a sheet metal shield that bolts to the front of the tractor then goes down and around under the front axle. This would push the windrow down and be smooth so the hay would not catch and bunch up.
I suspect that the hay may still catch and bunch up on the draw bar and brackets though.

That's my 2¢, anyway.
