Had to go to town anyway so I thought I would ask an old-timer at a farm equipment dealer who sold Olivers from WWII through the end what the deal was with loaders. He says they sold "1,000s" of them in the 30+ years and not one ever showed up at his place with a loader on it from the factory. He went on the say that no company ever made loaders for Oliver (the company) either. He did say that some of the loaders that fit the 2 and 3 digit tractors could be had with paint and decals and brackets that made selling them with a new Oliver easier but they were always a dealer install. He said that by the time the 4 digit tractors caught on that there were many companies making loaders, all universal fit, that they (the dealer) had to make brackets for. He remarked that they sold a ton of Schwartz 1610 loaders because they fit so many different Olivers with just different brackets. Then he started going on about how they (the dealer) made loaders in the old days and how they always had to swap loaders onto new tractors from the trade-ins and mangle them so they would fit. By that time I was late and needed to get back home.

Another reason they did not come from the factory was the loaders at one time were under the Shelbyville plant and of course tractors under Charles City. Then later when you had the Fiats they came to an east coast Port of entry. I will agree the 1610 was a good set up also the 1510 and even the 1210 & 1410 loaders for the Fiats.
He is correct in that at the end of World War 2 many little shops made loaders to sell in the local area.
