Hey guys...I have a problem. My wife is not a farm machinery freak as I am...(I think she must be a communist or something).
She absolutely refuses to go to the Penfield show with me this weekend because she says it is boring to go look at old tractors. I did finally talk her into going to the John Deere Pavillion last year. I still have to hear about what a favor she did me. She is a city gal who could care less about Oliver green or MM yellow. Penfield is only about an hour drive for us and I don't want to go by myself. Do I cuff her and throw her in the back of the pickup, or trick her somehow? Please give some ideas or advice...as she claims to still have nightmares seeing grown men drool over old tractors.

My frau screams bloody murder at the very mention of her spending her valuable time at an "old junk" show, be it cars, tractors or whatever. But, every time we go she takes pictures and seems to really enjoy herself. When she gets home, she tells her best friend that she was beginning to believe that I was not going to ask her to go. Go figure..... P

Your dilema makes me value mine all the more. She is a city girls that rode 500 miles round trip with me yesterday. And afterward said she enjoyed it after all. She took lots of pictures. I want to thank the guy who complimented her "nice bibs" while I was off getting another hat. She said that dirty ole man "made her day."

Yeah, I wanted to go to Penfield too. It a bit hard to sneak off and travel 5 or 600 miles each way and get back the same day.

Mike, your comment reminds me of the time I snuck off and drove 250 miles one way to pick up an engine I didn't want my wife to know about. Now she's a good woman, etc. and really doesn't care what I do toy wise as long as she and the kids come first, which they do. But a couple of weeks previous to this clandestine trip I had brought an old one home that I bought at auction for $70, and her comment about "me not having enough old engines laying around" made me think I probably shouldn't bring too many more home. I do have a bunch, but I needed the crankshaft in this one badly, so I headed out shortly after she went to school to volunteer for a day. I blazed those 250 miles, loaded the engine, blazed back home and unloaded it all about 20 minutes before she got back from school. Believe me I was tense, thinking if I had a flat, engine trouble, road construction delay, etc. my secret would have been revealed. I'll probably not do that again, wasn't worth the sweat. And to tell the truth, she probably wouldn't have cared if I'd told her. I just wanted to be a bad boy and keep a secret.

Take her along and let her drop you off. She can spend the day shopping and looking for a show and a restaurant, or even make hotel reservations. Then we she picks you up for your "date" you can return the favor. Just my 2 sense and keep the change.
