what weight of oil should I put in the rear end? How many quarts will it take and how would you recommend I flush it out?

Appreciate your help with this matter.

Larry: I do not know if I would rush right into the oil change. What do you do with your 770? Think about all the tractors that have leaking hydraulic pump seals and a rear end full of thin oil.
Does your 770 have the optional Power booster? That was the main reason for the thin oil.

This is for Larry. You read the manual correctly. Then it also said to mix in the 102 something power booster additive. The theory behind this was use the thin oil for the sprag clutch in the power booster. As 80/90 became a more popular oil thye got away from the 30 weight.

19 quart. 80/90 gear oil will work fine, Before you drain it completely drain about 1/2 out , put some diesel fuel in (couple of gallon)and drive it up and down the road for about a mile and then drain it. Two drain plugs. One for final drive, one for transmission. Check plug is on right side. Questions?

HMMMM, my operators manual says to fill everything with 10-30 oil...finals, trans, pto and belt, for the 770. My 70 and 77 manual calls for 80-90 oil in the trans.
