88 oil pressure

I have an 88 tractor that has low to no oil pressure, runs great no knocks any ideas on where to start?pressure relief valve? oil pump? any ideas would be greatly appreciated.I havent tore into any olivers so i just wanted to know if there was any tricks or common problems with them. thanx

I found the problem!!! The pressure relief valve was stuck and plus the gauge was also bad. thanx much for everyones help. sincerly Dave

The 88's had low pressure right out of the show room floor. You should probably have about 12-18 psi high idle warm and around 5-10 psi idleing warm.

The first place to look is the oil filter base,The restricter under the tube often gets lost out causeing too much oil to go through the filter.

The restrictor disk is in the filter base. It is under the tube (stem) that goes into the filter itelf. See if you have an aluminum or a replacement cast iron filter base. This problem is more common on the aluminum bases. Wiggle the stem and pull up on it. If it moves that is the first thing to check. Pull a reliable gauge on it with numbers and see what pressure you have.
