Took the tractor down the road and had in 6th gear. Going right along when the engine killed and came to an abrupt halt still in gear. Unit started right up and I headed home. All gears work fine except 6th will do this. Any ideas?

First question: Do you have a transmission lube pump? Second question. If not does your unit tend to transfer the oil from the transmission to the final drive.
Do you have a hydrapower? I will explain why later.
I need to look in my shop manual and see how the power flow through the gears is
What gear did you drive home in?
