Had my 550 Dsl working fine last week but won't start now. Tried starting fluid which helps the engine turn over but shuts down as soon as ether is burned. Seems like there are 2 fuel supply line - one directly from the tank to a 'T' in fuel link just before the injectors. The other routes thru some type of resevoir just below the tank on right side of tractor then thru the fuel filter near left front of engine, then thru the throttle/choke mechanism and connects to the 'T'. Could be possible I have a foreign object sucked into air intake. Suggestions??

I'm no diesel mechanic, but I believe the two lines are the high and low pressure. Did you run the tank dry or change a filter lately? You could have air in the line and may need to bleed the air out. If you want to know how to bleed I have the manual. Email me if you have any questions. Others might have a better idea of what's wrong

thanks for the advice. Hi/low pressure makes sense. I'm planning on buying a manual but haven't yet. I'd appreciate it if you would send me the info on bleeding fuel line. thanks.

The rubber supply line from the filter to the injection pump has an inner linging it may have calapsed, this line was used on the 770 & 880, and I think on the 550. Check the outlet fitting in the bottom of the tank if filters and other checks don't showup yhe problems.

I've disconnected supply line between filter and injection pump. Plenty of fuel from supply line but no or very little fuel out of fuel pump to supply lines to injectors. Reconnected supply lines to injection pump and disconnected return line to injection pump -maybe clogged coming back to pump. No flow out of return lines either.

Think there is just still air lock somewhere?

thanks for ideas.
