Hey Guys, Well since its been too wet to get the hay baled my step dad must be getting antsy again, hes looking at a new tractor, possibly a 2255 to replace the 1086 that is on the injured reserve list AGAIN and has been nothing but a money pit, what are the good and bad points of the 2255 and how would it stand up to the 1086 in terms of power and reliability thanks all!

Like was said if you want to compair to a 1086 you need a 2-135. I have both a 2-135 2 wd and a 2255 mfwd. The 2-135 has near 9,000 hrs and has been a great tractor far more reliable than the 2255 has ever been. I like the 2255 to but unless I need the tracton of mfwd I usialy like to drive the 2-135 much quieter and comfortable better hydrolics, brakes and the rear end is nearly indestructable likes fuel though. Newer compairable tractors would be a 140 or 145 nice thing with those is factory cummins power.

Well, your not really compairing like tractors first off. You'd have to have a 2-135 to compare to a 1086 fairly. So, a 2255, if with a cab will be alot louder, since its older and all. A 1466 would be compairable age and size wise to a 2255. So yeah, I guess it all depends on what you want on your farm and all...
