I currently pull a Farmall 560 diesel, but was wanting to maybe get something lighter and to pull antique classes with and thought about a Cockshutt. I don't know a whole lot about these tractors but was thinking about either a 40 or a 50....can anyone tell me if these would make a good puller in the 4500-5500 classes and what kind of power-engine mods can be done. Thanks

An Allis Chalmers 262 gas Buda will fit in a 40 or 50 with some mods. It has 71 HP stock. not a bad starting point for a puller. My buddy has one with over 100HP.

Havent I taught you anything get an Oliver. Somthing like a 88. What are you doing on a 560 anyhow. When did you get it and where are you hiding it? You drive it over to the house and we'll have a pull off!

An 88 would pull just fine. But if you want to win JR, stick to your Shutt 40 or 50 plan (or E-4 / E-5).

What is the key to making a 40 Cockshutt pull. I fixed up a one and pulled it a couple times. It would just lift the wide front a little but would still spin out quicker than my 77 with the same style tires and weighting.
