Hey,

Just finished rebuilding my carb on my 550. The carb cleaner melted the flat oring that is on the power level adjustment screw that is on the bottome of the carb, at the back towards the starter.

Anybody know of where to get a new seal for that damnable screw?

by the by, the echlin kit from NAPA was almost useless for my carb. most of the seals and caps were the wrong diameter.

Thanks,

Jeff

Jeff,
I have an Oliver 550 and have had the engine rebuilt. the problem I am having is when the engine has pull on if let's say from my bush hog, it tends to cut out, and then powers up again. i figure it is in the adjustment in the carburator. I wasn't sure what each screw does. The one on the top by the fuel line???what does it do??the one on the bottom near the starter--what does it do??
Can you help?
Thanks!

Jeff, you probably want a viton o-ring- it wont deteriorate in gas. A well stocked hardware store should have a selection to help determine the diameter & cross section thickness you need, tho they probably won't have viton. I'll bet the o ring wasn't flat to begin with, just got that way with age. Here's a source I've used for some really small viton o rings: www.mcmaster.com - they have an unbelievable catalog of hard to find material. Good luck.
