Hydraulic Leak on 77

My 77 RC has a leaking hydraulic pump it works great but some of the hydralic fluid leaks in to the rear end. Is fixing the pump a big job or what would it take to get it fixed. Thanks Jeff

Might be lucky and just have bad seals. I think we've done it without moving instrument panel at all.

Jeff I had the same problem with my 770. When we took it apart the center plate on the pump was cracked. I was able to get a used pump from a wrecker, but I believe the center plate is available by itself. To remove the pump you have to pull out the PTO assembly as the pump runs off the PTO shaft. The gas tank has to be removed and the instrument panel unbolted and moved out of the way. It is not necessary to remove the panel entirely just tie it forward. The entire hydraulic assembly can then be unbolted from the top of the transmission housing as a unit. It is easier if the shift lever is removed first but be careful not to drop the shifter springs into the transmission. The workshop manual describes how to make a small plate to hold the springs in place while installing and removing.
