Oliver 1650 gas

I'm thinking of buying a 1650 gas,the 3-pt quit
so the guy parked it about 4 yrs ago.He says it ran good when parked except for 3-pt not working.
Any ideas why the 3-pt would quit abruptly? He says it was like something came unhooked. I would like to know what model cummins diesel would work best in this tractor,is it feasable to convert to
diesel? Thanks ahead of time,Robert

There is an overload relief valve on the 3PH cylinder inside of the housing. These were attached with a cast iron street L that had a tendancy to break. That lets all the oil go back into the resivoir. The replacement elbows are steel and don't break as easily. WB.

Robert- sounds like there was an internal failure like the piston that raises and lowers the 3pt failed or something. If I were you, leave it gas, they are alot easier to start, and the cummins conversion isnt very cheap. The 3.9 cummins works best for that tractor, and Shep has put the 5.9 in a 16xx series tractor. He could tell you exactly how much work and money that would take. I would say fix the gasser and expect some time invested into getting the 3pt to work. It is a very good tractor though, and it deserves to run again:)
