I have an old gleaner combine... maybe 40's vintage, sitting out in the woods behind the machine shed. It has an inline 6 hercules flathead gasoline engine with a governor in the gear cover on the right side. Does anybody know if such an engine was used also in tractors? And if so, what brand? I'm just curious 'cause if it would fit some model of classic tractor, maybe I could sell the engine, as it's just sat there for the past 40 years or so. The engine itself would likely run with a little tinkering, but the combine will never run again.

Hercules engine have tags rivited on the left side that gives model no, serial number and bore and stoke. If that has been lost then the model and serial no should be stamped in the block on the upper right hand corner just blow the head. Their model numbers are three letters such as JXD RXC etc.
