My cab came with the AC unit on top and hoses but no compressor. I have a chance at the entire unit off of a GM car. Can the compressor be adapted to the lines and recharged, or am I blowing hot air?

No reason it can't be installed, although the GM system should be a newer one using R134A, R12 is getting hard to find!

If you do, and you can, put R 134 in right away. R 12 is almost $50 a lb., where the R 134 is a heckuvalot cheaper than that, I think about $5, if not less.
