HELP !! 66 oil leak- won't stop

I had my 66 motor rebuilt over the winter- never leaked a drop of oil before. An experienced shop rebuilt it- the front crank seal leaked as soon as the oil got warm- black oil leaking , but the motor oil was new- after a while it turns clear. I replaced the seal- same thing. I've had it apart 5 times now. It leaks so bad the side panels were wet with oil when I used the tractor. I've tried putting the cover, seal & pulley on as a unit- still leaks. The seal was soaked for 5 days in oil, the inside of the cover is smooth, pulley surface ok, used grease during assembly,& sealant on pulley. Now the rear seal is starting to leak. The seals were bought from Korves Oliver- who have helped me as much as they can on this matter. WHAT DO I DO ????? Thank you for any input you may have.

Had the exact same thing happen one time with a fresh overhaul.Had the pully and cover on and off I dont know hoe many times.Finally out of desperation I took the pully off that old 66 and ran it for 5 min and it didnt leak a drop. Figured the pully was walking the seal away from the cover when running.Probably the new seal had shruck and was very hard so polished the pully down about 2th,added STP to seal and pully and won the battle

I had the same problem after I rebuilt my 88. I ended up putting a timing cover from a newer model oliver, I believe it was a 1600 or 1650, which uses a lip seal instead of a cork seal. This solved my problem. Someone may know of a newer cover that might fit your 66. Good luck.

Where did you put sealant at? Also did you check end play in crankshaft? Be sure seal don't fit to tight where it slides on pulley or on the crank on the rear. If this is snug and you have any end play the crank will keep the seal away from surface. You can check by prying crank back and forth with a small bar.

A very common cause of oil leaks past seals is blowby past the rings. Either they haven't seated yet or there is a bad bore size/hone pattern and they never will seat. A cylinder leakdown test will confirm.

the above is posible but if the crank seal surface has been polished or ground you need an oversized seal or a wear sleave also (sour note) some of these new seals dont preform well there too thin lean mic the seal journal and then get the seal dimensions iv been though this more than once
